Movie Analysis
Kid: This character is between 21-25 years old. He is fed up with the obstacles life has to throw at him. He is also becoming extremely concerned with the problems of living in a modern day society. For the most part, he only talks when spoken to. Whether he realizes it or not, his objective is to find his inner peace to escape our jungle of concrete.
Ben: This character is between the 28-30 years old. Ben has been given a power. He can read your thoughts as quickly as you perceive them. He is very sarcastic with a touch of dry humor. He is intelligent, outspoken, honest and tends to care a lot for other people.
Yawn: This character is between 30-35 years old. This is the kind of guy you could rob in a dark alley way and he would just smile at you. He has been given the power to place himself in ones dreams, or recollections of the past. He is honest, intelligent and furthermore he has figured out the mystics of life. He feels that his purpose on earth is to set a good example for others.
Rick: This character is between 45-50 years old. He never speaks and only pops up at the end of the movie to help tie things together. He is your typical middle-aged, tired cook.
Lee: This character is a 40 year old homeless man who has given up on society and chooses to sleep on the streets.
B. The entire movie is based on how to overcome obstacles to achieve your objectives. The kid has to learn how to find his inner peace, so he can manage all of the problems with living in a modern day society. Ben's character has to end up helping this kid figure things out in a subtle manor. Yawn has to sustain a very peaceful manor every time the kid sees him. Rick has to almost look frightening. Maybe to be portrayed as a possibility of the kid's future if he doesn't find his inner peace. Him giving up his apple is a metaphor for him giving up his inner peace.
C. Kid goes through flashbacks from dreams and past experiences. Ben talks to the kid to keep him calm and open minded. Yawn has to relax and always remain at peace. Rick gives away his apple to yawn.
E. It's almost as if the kid is having panic attacks at the bar. He also seems frustrated and hopeless. Ben keeps trying. He never gives up. Yawn personally gives kid his apple. Rick gives up and passes his inner peace to another.
F. To worry about where your life is heading, why this country has turned out like it did and how to overcome the insanity of modern day society is an extremely realistic doing. That of course pertaining to the kid. Ben is a bartender. That alone is realistic for being his age and living in a city. Enjoying an apple under a tree is a very realistic solution to waking up and feeling like you can't get away from
the concrete. Riding a bike, instead of paying for the cost of a car, insurance, gas and using more of the world's supply of fuel is also realistic for this day and age. Also Yawn spreading his wealth of ways to escape city life is very realistic for a place like Memphis. Rick being a 50 year old cook and numb to society is as realistic as it gets.
